Hand-selected by Tequila Jay Baer and Tequila Maddie at the legendary NOM 1068 (one of the oldest distilleries in Mexico) this is a very special, high-proof reposado from LaPulga.
Additive Free, 47.5% ABV and aged for 16 months in 3rd use Tennessee whiskey barrels. The first fill was Tennessee Whiskey. Second fill was LaPulga añejo, and this third fill gives light hints of oak, sweet spice, honey, and caramel.
But wait....
16 months....wouldn't that be an añejo?
Technically, it could be. Anything aged 12+ months can be classified añejo. But this one drinks like a gorgeous, older reposado so reposado it is!
Also important, this tequila has NO WATER ADDED.
This reposado goes from 55% still strength to 47.5% solely through oxygenation and evaporation, preserving all of the flavor and aroma goodness. Oxygen is pumped through the tequila for 19 hours at 4 degree celsius, a special process that mellows the spirit without water.
As a result, this is an insanely drinkable high proof tequila.
Why is it 47.5% ABV? First, that's the exact midpoint between the 40% regular LaPulga reposado and the maximum strength 55% edition.
And, 47.5% ABV is 95 proof, and the distillery, Agroindustria Guadlajara, was founded in 1995. An homage!
Notes of orange, vanilla, spice. Maddie says it's "aged to perfection". If you're a reposado fan, this is for you. If you're an añejo fan, it's right up your alley.
This is Jay and Maddie's 10th single barrel collaboration, and it's definitely one of the all-time best.
